    Dear Ida,

As you begin this new chapter, I want to take a moment to thank you - not just as a colleague, but as a mentor who has made a lasting impact on my professional journey.

Your knowledge, integrity, and generosity in sharing your experience have guided so many of us over years. I have truly appreciated your support, your thoughtful advice, and the example you set every day through your work and leadership. Working alongside you has been both a privilege and learning experience.

While you will be greatly missed, I am genuinely happy for you and wish you retirement filled with good health, joy, and the time to enjoy everything you’ve been working toward.

Thank you for your incredible leadership and dedication. You’ve left a lasting impact on all of us.

    Michele Taylor

My fave memory with Ida was when I was in office and I had just started the role, she came to me and let me know that I was doing a good job. For someone that has been in a union for the majority of my 20 years, I didn’t realize how much of an impact it would have on me – I needed that.

I forever grateful for our interaction.

    Krista Williams

Ida was the first Property Manager that I ever worked with and we immediately bonded. We call each other “Buddy” for a reason.

Ida Wong, funny smart and kind are just a few words that come to mind. I think that for us, we will remember the people we went through a pandemic with. The ones that supported us and help to calm our collective nerves. This group of people became closer. More like family. It's hard to say goodbye to people we hold in high esteem. It's hard to say goodbye to family, but we do this time with the hopes that Ida will fulfill the things she dreams of for herself. After a lifetime of looking out for and looking after so many. It's her time now. lets hope she's as good to herself as she has been to all of us. Thanks D.

Ida – You have been everyone’s go to – from Risk Management to Contracts to Finance to co-workers!

I don’t think there is many people who do not know you or who have not come to you for direction or advice.

Meetings and office days will never be the same without you and your banana bread and peanut butter balls!

We appreciate your support and friendship over the years and wish you well in this next chapter.

Say goodbye to tension and hello to your pension 🙂

Ida, When I first came to Peel Living, it was clear to see that you were the matriarch, the oracle, - keeper and knower of everything.  You were the first person everyone went to when they didn’t know the answer, when they needed advice, what they could and couldn’t do to resolve something and still to this day, that’s apart of your everyday.  I’m asking for all of us but is there a line we’ll be able to call you when you’re officially off the clock?  If I could get that number, it would be greatly appreciated!  I’m happy to keep it confidential!  Also, can I subscribe to a weekly delivery of banana bread?

I watched in awe of the important work you did while on special projects.  The strides you made to push Peel Living forward and the team did not go unnoticed.  I really felt at those times that we were forging ahead and doing the things we needed to do, with your leadership.

I’m sad that I never got to work directly with you until Credit River Way.  I wish that I had the opportunity to shadow you and live a week in your shoes on how to be a PM, how to do all the things you do – not that I could ever measure up, but to be a sponge and absorb everything you know.  When your last day comes then I could ask myself, “what would Ida do?”.  I think those words and that question is the gift you’ll leave us all with.  There isn’t enough time, no matter how you quantify it – to download your brain and make the policies, manuals, books, process maps, reports – all of it to capture what you have meant to this department, this team, and the housing world.

I will believe you’re officially retired on April 2nd because you could say April Fools on April 1st and then this will be a hilarious joke.  I’ve been manifesting that and I hope it will play out exactly this way because I don’t know Peel Living without you in it.

It’s been an incredible privilege and honour to work in the same realm as you.  As you enter this new chapter, I wish you all the very best, lots of travel as I’m sure you’ll do, and the biggest congratulations ever that you so deserve!  We will miss you beyond words, every single day.

    Paul Tavi

Working with you has truly been an amazing experience. Your support during the AC replacement project meant so much — you were always available to discuss issues, no matter the time. Those late‑evening meetings to keep the project running smoothly showed your education and I’ll never forget how you even offered to take calls on your days off. You’ve always gone above and beyond, and it’s been a privilege to work alongside you. I hope retirement brings you the rest and relaxation you absolutely deserve. Take some time for yourself now — you’ve earned every minute of it!

Wishing you all the very best in this new chapter.
